Soil Health Field Day – Governors Island Teaching Garden

A hands-on look at soil health for urban growers, with field demos and farmer discussion. Open format - drop in anytime!

Join Cornell Cooperative Extension’s urban ag team and other NYC soil folks as we pull out all our best field demos: rainfall simulation, cover crop seeding and strategy (with a cover crop seed giveaway), characterizing soil texture, and more. Take the penetrometer for a spin, learn how to read a soil test (and bring your own test results along!), and most importantly, hear about other urban farmers’ experiences dealing with their own unique soils.

Part of the New York Soil Health Field Day series.

Food and farmer chats begin at 11:30 am, demos begin at 1 pm.

Free to attend! Reserve a spot!
