About

The Eastern New York Commercial Horticulture Program serves New York’s commercial fruit and vegetable farms focusing on the needs of farms in a 17-county region that covers the Champlain Valley, Capital District, eastern Mohawk Valley, and Hudson Valley. The team's 10 Extension Associates and 3 support staff work with Cornell faculty and extension specialists statewide to address the issues that impact the viability of the region’s produce farms.  We specifically cover commercial tree fruit, small fruit, vegetable and grape production.

The Eastern New York Commercial Horticulture Program serves growers and agri-business professionals through applied on-farm research, educational programs, and direct technical assistance, arming them with the knowledge to profitably produce and market safe and healthful horticultural crops, contributing to the viability of farms and the economic wellbeing of New York State. Specifically, our program focuses on variety evaluation, pest management, cultural practices, evaluating new enterprises, farm business management, risk management, and food safety.  We offer regular workshops and trainings, newsletters, direct grower support, and pest and disease alerts.

The Eastern New York Commercial Horticulture Program covers 17 counties (see map) and is supported, in part, by 15 county Cornell Cooperative Extension Associations: Albany, Clinton, Columbia/Greene, Dutchess, Essex, Fulton/Montgomery, Orange, Putnam, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie/Otsego, Ulster, Warren and Washington.
