The ENYCHP Small Fruit Program supports commercial berry growers throughout eastern New York with research-based information, educational programming, and technical assistance focused on producing high-quality, profitable berry crops. The program addresses the production and management of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and other specialty small fruits, with emphasis on variety selection, pest and disease management, soil fertility, cultural practices, and season extension. Through on-farm research, grower meetings, field demonstrations, and timely educational resources, our specialists help growers evaluate new production practices and respond to emerging challenges. Heather Kase serves as the program's lead Small Fruit Specialist, working with growers across the region to improve berry production and strengthen the economic sustainability of small fruit farms. Elisabeth Hodgdon also provides horticultural expertise and support to growers, particularly in northern New York.
