Vegetables

The ENYCHP Vegetable Program provides applied research, education, and technical assistance to commercial vegetable growers across eastern New York, supporting a diverse range of production systems, farm sizes, and markets. Our specialists work with growers on crop production, variety evaluation, integrated pest management, soil health, nutrient management, cover crops, reduced tillage, greenhouse and high tunnel production, and organic growing practices. Through on-farm research trials, field demonstrations, educational meetings, and timely pest and production updates, the program helps growers improve crop quality, production efficiency, profitability, and environmental sustainability. Our experienced team of Vegetable Specialists includes Chuck Bornt, Ethan Grundberg, Elisabeth Hodgdon, Teresa Rusinek, and Crystal Stewart-Courtens, who bring diverse expertise in field vegetable production, organic systems, pest management, protected agriculture, garlic, onions, and specialty crops. Together, they provide locally relevant information and practical assistance to vegetable growers throughout the region.
