Food Systems

A strong local food system keeps farm dollars in the community and makes fresh, local food easier to find. CCE Broome supports that connection at every step - helping farmers reach customers, helping food entrepreneurs get their start, and helping residents discover what's grown and made right here in Broome County.

Our work includes the Broome County Regional Farmers Market and the wider Markets of Broome network, the Taste NY Program, the Grown in Broome initiative connecting shoppers with local producers, and the Broome Incubator Kitchen, where food entrepreneurs can access affordable, licensed space to build their businesses.

Farmers Markets

Farmers markets are a wonderful community gathering space in Broome County—a way to access local food year-round and meet the people, often your neighbors, who grow and raise what you eat. Many of our markets accept SNAP benefits and other nutrition incentives, including Fresh2You (formerly FreshConnect) checks, which double your SNAP dollars 1:1.

CCE Broome coordinates Markets of Broome, a collaboration of the five farmers markets across the county. Visit marketsofbroome.com for days and hours, accepted payment methods, nutrition incentive programs, social media, and vendor information for each market.

Taste NY

CCE Broome County, in partnership with NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets and Empire State Development, operates two Taste NY stores: one at the Southern Tier Welcome Center on I-81 entering New York from Pennsylvania, and one on our campus at 840 Upper Front Street. Both feature a rotating selection of New York products, supporting local agriculture and small businesses - part of a statewide network of Taste NY stores across NYS.

About Taste NY
Launched in 2013 and overseen by the Department of Agriculture and Markets, Taste NY promotes the state's food and beverage industries by giving local producers a platform at public events like the Great New York State Fair, as well as stores at Thruway rest stops and transportation hubs. Welcome to the newly renovated Broome Incubator Kitchen!

This updated, expanded commercial kitchen designed to support food entrepreneurs in starting and growing their businesses.

Located within the Broome County Regional Farmers Market, the kitchen provides licensed space, equipment, and resources to help you produce and scale your food products.

This kitchen is ideal for:

  • Food entrepreneurs launching a new product
  • Caterers and small food businesses looking to expand production
  • Farmers Market vendors preparing for weekly sales

Members have access to:

  • Fully eqipped 1,700 sq foot commercial kitchen space
  • Flexible rental tiers based on production needs
  • Shared storage (walk-in cooler, freezer, and dry storage)
  • 24/7 access with manager approval
  • On-site staff support
  • Business incubation services
  • Opportunities through the CCE Broome  County network
