Farmland for a New Generation

Nearly 40% of farmland in the United States is leased, and in New York, the average cash rental rate is $77 per acre. For many farmers, leasing is a more affordable way to access land than buying it outright—but a fair, secure lease matters just as much to a good outcome as the land itself.

Farmland for a New Generation New York connects farmers seeking land with landowners who want to keep their land in agriculture. The program supports a network of Regional Navigators—partner organizations with dedicated staff—who provide training and hands-on support to farmers and landowners across the state.

CCE Broome, along with agricultural service providers throughout New York, works to keep productive farmland in agricultural use here in our region. Visit NY Farmland Finder for leasing resources, tools, and upcoming trainings.
