4-H Camp Wabasso Celebrates a Successful 2026 Summer Season

4-H Camp Wabasso wrapped up another memorable summer of outdoor adventure, friendship, learning and fun, with campers and families sharing overwhelmingly positive experiences from the 2026 season.

Throughout the summer, campers had opportunities to explore the outdoors, participate in hands-on activities, build friendships and develop independence and confidence that are hallmarks of the 4-H Camp Wabasso experience. Parent feedback reflected the impact of the camp experience, with many families reporting that their children had an amazing time, loved camp and were already excited about returning next summer.

“Seeing campers come through our gates excited to learn, make friends, reacquaint with Camp Counselors, and try new things is what makes 4-H Camp Wabasso so special,” said Stephanie Graf, Deputy Executive Director.  “We are incredibly proud of the experiences our summer camp staff created for youth this summer, and we are grateful to the families who trusted us with their children.”

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, 4-H Camp Wabasso invited parents to share feedback about their children's experiences each week of summer camp. The survey provided valuable insight into what families appreciated most and where the camp can continue to grow and develop.  Families highlighted the positive relationships campers developed with counselors, enjoyment of activities and the overall camp experience. Parents also noted that their children's basic needs were well met and praised individual counselors for their communication, care and responsiveness. While every summer presents opportunities to learn and improve, the strongest message from the survey was clear: 4-H Camp Wabasso is creating positive experiences that youth want to repeat.

The survey also identified several opportunities for strengthening the camp experience in 2027. These include improving communication with families, providing additional options when weather affects outdoor activities, expanding food choices, and strengthening procedures related to medical, dietary and medication information. Camp leadership will use this feedback as part of its planning for the 2027 season.

“Parent feedback is an important part of how we continue to improve Camp Wabasso,” said Amanda Root, Executive Director. “We do listen, we do learn, and we are committed to taking what we heard and using it to make camp an even stronger experience for every young person who attends.”

The 2026 season once again demonstrated the unique value of residential 4-H camp. Beyond the activities themselves, campers have the opportunity to practice independence, work as part of a team, make decisions, overcome challenges and create memories that can last a lifetime.  As 4-H Camp Wabasso looks ahead to 2027, the goal remains the same: to provide a safe, welcoming and engaging environment where young people can learn by doing, build confidence, make lasting friendships and discover their own adventures. 4-H Camp Wabasso thanks the campers, families, counselors, volunteers and community supporters who made the 2026 summer season possible. The camp looks forward to welcoming campers back for another summer of adventure in 2027.
