Board & Governance

People support decisions they help to make, and Cornell Cooperative Extension believes strongly in shared leadership through locally elected Boards of Directors and active program advisory structures.

Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County is governed by a Board of Directors that consists of elected community volunteers; 1 voting member appointed by the Sullivan County Legislature and a representative from Cornell University. The Board includes people from throughout Sullivan County who bring their knowledge and experience in various program areas, and professional skills sets, to govern the organization. The board has fiduciary responsibility for the association and its programs, sets personnel and finance policy, hires, supports and evaluates the executive director, and works with Board committees to ensure association programs meet CCE vision, mission, and community needs, and are effective.

The Program Advisory Committee assists professional staff in guiding the direction of program areas to be responsive to emerging needs and issues, understanding appropriate outreach and service delivery methods, and troubleshooting roadblocks or barriers to delivering effective programs. Our programs have evolved over the years to reflect changes in values, ethics, community norms, family structures, mobility, and the economy in direct response to this grassroots community involvement.

The Strategic Planning Committee meets as needed to develop, monitor, evaluate, and ensure a vision and mission based path forward for the association. The strategic plan guides program and resource development efforts.
