About CCE Sullivan County

Since 1914 farmers, families, seniors, businesses, and communities have been receiving the best information available on the issues that matter most to them. Because our office is in Sullivan County, we can be responsive to this county's immediate needs, while drawing on expertise from the National Land Grant University System and Cornell University. Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County is building strong and vibrant communities, families, and individuals right here in Sullivan County. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of our constituents.

Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County’s mission is to share research based education, outreach, and opportunities in response to Sullivan County’s needs in the areas of Agriculture, Nutrition, Family, and Environment.

Our local vision is that Cornell Cooperative Extension will be a key partner with the community in improving the quality of life in Sullivan County by employing the latest technology, research-based education, and inclusive programming.

Our Guiding Values include Collaboration, Compassion, Sustainability, and Volunteerism.

Extension staff and volunteers deliver education programs, conduct applied research, and encourage community collaborations. Our educators connect people with the information they need on topics such as commercial and consumer agriculture and food systems; nutrition and health; youth and family development; caregiving; energy efficiency; economic and community development; home gardening; and sustainable natural resources. Our ability to match university resources with community needs helps us play a vital role in the lives of individuals, families, businesses, and communities throughout Sullivan County.

CCE Sullivan is part of the Cooperative Extension land grant system, an educational partnership between County, State, and Federal governments that is administered in New York State through Cornell University. Each county's Cooperative Extension association is an independent employer, governed by a locally elected Board of Directors, and is responsive to county government with general oversight from Cornell University. All associations work to meet local needs, as well as state and national goals.

CCE Sullivan is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and under New York State’s County Law Section 224 subsection 8, considered a subordinate governmental agency with an educational mission that operates under a form of organization and administration approved by Cornell University as agent for the State of New York.

We have an extensive system for getting input from diverse interests in the community, and we welcome your ideas and involvement in our efforts. If you are interested in how CCE Sullivan sets policies and program priorities, or if you'd like more information on how to get involved, please get in touch with us!
