4-H Members who intend to participate in the 2026 4-H Market Animal Sale must register here by April 1, 2026. Please note that Cloverbuds are not eligible.

All market sale participants must agree to adhere to the Market Classes and Sales Guidelines -

1. ANIMAL ENTRIES: DEADLINE IS June 1, 2026 - LINKS ARE AVAILABLE TO ENTER; all ANIMAL entries will be completed on-line. Number of head per exhibitor is species specific and listed in the fairbook.

2. Youth who intend to complete the 4-H Market Animal Sale Project must register online by April 1st of the current 4-H year. (You are completing this step by submitting this registration form!)

3. Exhibitors are required to seek multiple potential buyers for their market animal(s) prior to the 4-H Market Animal Sale. It is not the 4-H Office’s responsibility to arrange buyers for exhibitor’s, this includes all animals, including those who do not meet the species-specific weight requirements.

4. Youth must attend 1 mandatory educational event during 4-H year prior to the fair.

5. All market animals must be weighed at the final weigh-in on the Tuesday of the Cortland County Jr Fair of the current 4-H year. This weight will be used by the 4-H Office to create market animal classes and will be used as the animal’s final sale weight.

6. Animals in the market class that make desirable market quality as determined by the judge, and meet all applicable species requirements may be sold at the 4-H Market Animal Sale of the Cortland County Jr Fair of the current 4-H year

7. 4-H Market Sale order-of-go will be done by species and rotate annually. Youth who exhibit the Grand and Reserve Grand Champions of each species will receive first choice for their place in their species sale order. A lottery system will be used to determine the remaining sale order of each species.

8. Only animals who receive a blue ribbon will be eligible for champion titles. The Grand and Res. Grand Champion of each species must sell in the market sale.

9. MARKET SALE CHECKS will be mailed to the youth exhibitor after fair, once the exhibitor has adhered to the Market Classes and Sales Guidelines, and met the three final requirements listed:

· Youth must complete and submit the applicable Market Animal Record Book to the 4-H Office no later than the Saturday of the Cortland County Jr Fair of the current 4-H year

· Youth must dismantle/clean their animal area on/by Sunday of fair

· Youth must obtain a thank you card from 4-H Staff, write a thank you note in the card to their buyer, and submit the card back to the 4-H office no later than the Saturday of the Cortland County Jr Fair of the Current 4-H year.
