CCE Ulster Environment Work
Our staff engages communities to solve and respond to key environmental challenges, reduce and make more equitable our collective use of the Earth's resources, and inspire respect for natural systems and our reliance on them. CCE Ulster County's Environment program area has four primary areas of focus: water resources, climate resilience, invasive species, and forestry.
We partner with organizations like the Ulster County Soil and Water Conservation District (Ulster SWCD), NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), NYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP), Hudson River Estuary Program (HREP), Ulster County Department of Environment, and the Catskill Regional Invasive Species Partnership Program (CRISP) on projects.

Every year, the average American goes through more than 250 pounds of plastic waste, and much of that comes from packaging. So what do we do with it all?

Trashed computers, TVs and other gadgets make up the fastest-growing waste stream in most municipalities in the U.S. These electronic wastes are challenging to dispose as some contain toxic substances that can have an adverse impact on human health and the environment.
This E-Waste Disposal Guide we created discusses tips and measures on what to do with gadgets that piled up, how to find local waste management department and other ways of disposing electronics and devices.
CCE Agroforestry Resource Center
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia-Greene Agroforestry Resource Center is a regional center for education, demonstration and research with a focus on the benefits of woodlands to people, waterways and wildlife. Educational and experiential programs at the Agroforestry Resource Center are aimed at encouraging people to preserve and enhance the ecological, economic and human health benefits of forested land.
