Master gardener pruning a grape vineCornell Cooperative Extension engages thousands of volunteers each year in a wide variety of activities.  Their efforts complement the work of our staff, improve the quality of our programs, and increase enthusiasm for Cooperative Extension all over New York State.

Volunteers work in many capacities, providing hands-on assistance in our education programs, cooperating in applied research projects, and serving in policy and advisory capacities at both local and state-wide levels. In return, volunteers are rewarded with many hours of training in areas of their interest, a chance to make a difference, and the knowledge that they are a valuable and valued part of the Cornell Cooperative Extension system.

Last year volunteers contributed over 1 million hours, playing a significant role in the accomplishment of our mission.
