Organic Production
The Cornell Organic Working Group brings farmers, Cornell faculty, and Extension field staff together to address the research and Extension needs of the organic farming community.

At annual meetings, members share the production challenges organic farmers faced during the previous growing season, learn about research projects conducted by farmers and Cornell researchers, identify research and Extension priorities, and plan research collaborations to address those needs. 

In 2008, there were 827 certified organic farms cultivating 168,400 acres in NYS. New York is one of the top ten states in numbers of organic farms.

Located within the Dept. of Agriculture and Markets, provides an introduction to New York State organic farming and food.
Northeast Organic Network (NEON)
A consortium, led by Cornell University, working together to improve organic farmers' access to research and technical support.
Northeast Organic Farming Association-NY (NOFA-NY)
Publishes a newsletter, conducts educational programs, provides web-based farm and processor lists and organizes farmer-participant programs.

Cornell Farm-to-School Program
Develops strategies and disseminates information to increase the amount of locally grown food served in New York's schools, colleges and universities.
Organic Seed Partnership
Providing improved crop varieties to organic farmers. USDA-CSREES funded.
National Sustainable Agriculture Information Service (ATTRA)
Providing information and other technical assistance to assist farmers, ranchers, Extension educators and others involved in sustainable farming methods or organic production strategies.
USDA National Organic Program
Develops, implements and administers national production, handling and labeling standards for organic agricultural products.
