New York State is home to 36,600 farms which cultivate approximately 25% of the total land area (7.1 million acres) to produce a diverse array of products including tree fruits, berries, grapes, vegetables, maple syrup, dairy products, meat, poultry, eggs, turf grass, bedding and garden plants, and Christmas trees.

Cornell Cooperative Extension provides producers with research-based educational resources and technical assistance to help ensure high quality products and sustainable agricultural practices.
